Prerequisite
A completed application is required before taking Fire Officer I Certification test. The candidate is expected to be knowledgeable and able to meet the criteria outlined in NFPA 1021 for Fire Officer I. There are several ways to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the exam, such as a technical college program, an individual fire department training, home study, etc. Prior certification as Fire Fighter II and Fire Instructor I is required.

Standard - NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I
The questions and skills tested are designed to test the candidate on the knowledge and proficiencies outlined in NFPA 1021 for Fire Officer I. All questions in the test bank have been referred to a specific standard in NFPA 1021.

Re-certification

  • Every three years.
