Fire Inspector II
- A completed application and proof of prior certification as a Fire Inspector I is required before a candidate is eligible to take a Fire Inspector II exam.
- The candidate must have the knowledge as outlined in NFPA 1031 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector II.
The questions and skills tested are designed to test the candidate on the knowledge and proficiencies as outlined in NFPA 1031 2009 Edtion for Fire Inspector II. All questions have been referenced to a specific standard in NFPA 1031 (2009 Edition).
The textbooks listed below were used in developing the test questions for the Fire Inspector II exam. The candidate should have knowledge of the information contained in these books:
- IFSTA Fire Inspection and Code Enforcement, 7th Edition, First Printing
- IFSTA Essentials of Fire Fighting - Fourth Edition
- IFSTA Private Fire Protection and Detection, 3rd Edition, First Printing
- NFPA 1031 2009 Edition
" Take Home" Practical stations are a part of this certification process. The Candidate is required to use the current edition of the International Fire Code to complete the practical stations.
- The written test is made up of 100 multiple-choice questions selected at random from a test bank of over 200 questions. A score of 70 percent (adjusted by standard measurement of error) correct answers must be achieved in order to achieve a passing score.
- Test Cost: $85
- Every three years.
- Requires 24 hours of Fire Inspector II training for each of the three years.
