Our Mission
The mission of the Minnesota Fire Service Certification Board is to provide a
means of recognition of persons who achieve the levels of
competency specified in established standards.
MFSCB
The Minnesota Fire Service Certification Board (MFSCB) was established in 1987 to
meet the needs of Minnesota's fire service to recognize various levels of
training competencies and proficiencies of the state's firefighting
community. The organization offers certification on a voluntary basis to
individuals that work or live in Minnesota
and engage in the occupation of firefighting.
These certification levels are available to members of career and
volunteer fire departments, as well as others working in the field. Levels of
certification that are offered include: Firefighter
I, Firefighter II, Fire Instructor I, Fire
Instructor II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, Fire Inspector III, Fire
Officer I, Fire Officer II, Airport Fire Fighter, Fire
Apparatus Operator, Haz Mat Technician, Public Fire Safety Educator I, Public Fire Safety Educator II and Fire Investigator.
Accrediting Agencies
These levels of certification have been reviewed and are nationally
accredited by the 
International
Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and
Pro Board (NPQS)
Under Development
Other certification levels under development include: NFPA 472 Haz Mat Operations, NFPA 472 Rescue Technician:
Ropes and Knots; Vehicle and Machinery, Trench, Water and Ice. Additionally, we are exploring and continuing to develop Plan Examiner, Fire Officer III and Fire Officer IV.
